The roots of RIKO reach back to the 19thcentury, when a sports and medical equipment factory was established under the name of JOR, in the small town of Ribnica, the cradle of Slovenian entrepreneurship. The company RIKO– a Slovene acronym standing for “Ribnica metal processing factory” - was built on its very foundations. From that time onwards and until 1990, its production programs gradually developed to include agricultural mechanizations, tractor trailers, aircraft and municipal equipment, waste management equipment as well as highly sophisticated flexible systems.
In the 1990s, RIKO shifted its focus from pure manufacture to engineering and began producing prefabricated RIKO wooden buildings.
RIKO entered into cooperation with the French designer Philippe Starck in the Starck with Rikoproject.
RIKO expanded its productionintroducing the latest state-of-the-art automated line for large wood panel elements.
In the surroundings of London, RIKO built a housing estate of 160 tailor-made individual houses.
After barely eight years of business, Riko Hiše was classified among the 500 fastest growing companies of Slovenia.
RIKO Hiše took over the system patent for the production of massive wooden buildings.
The company Riko Hiše was established and commenced production of prefabricated massive wooden elements.
RIKO transformed into the limit company Riko d.o.o. and began developingengineering activities.
At the beginning of the 1990s, RIKO entered into a successful strategic cooperation with the Russian company Avtovaz.
The Moscow agency of RIKO is established and successfully headed by CEO Dragoljub Djordjević.
RIKO extended its activity to the car industry and household appliances.
The company was renamed RIKO and their production programme wascontinuously developed and complemented.
The factory specializedin the production of agricultural tools, airport equipment, etc.
The factory JOR opened in Ribnica, producing sports equipment and metal products.
In the course of its activity, RIKO has received numerous recognitions, awards and certificates which were granted to both the company and RIKO products. The recognitions bestowed on RIKO founder and CEO Janez Škrabec are also of importance to RIKO because they acknowledge the values on which the entire RIKO group is based.
