The interior layout of the house is interesting because of the large open central living area (which leads into the bedroom and kitchen) and also because of the combination of the two wall systems used since the solid wood walls nicely complement the fibrous plaster walls (which have a more classic look). Both walls are complemented by a ceiling with wooden pall panels. With a stucco façade, sky-blue shutters and front doors, and small projecting roofs, the visual appearance of the house fits in nicely with the local architecture.
EcoCaza is Riko’s partner company from Toulouse, which specializes in ecological low-energy constructions and offers end buyers all inclusive construction services – from architectural design and consultancy to the implementation of turnkey projects. Riko’s offer of wooden houses also includes the planning, supply and installation of electrical and mechanical installations, which use renewable energy sources and meet French standards for low energy consumption buildings (BBC). EcoCaza is one of the pioneers in the French region of Midi-Pyrénées that promote eco timber buildings as brick buildings are the traditional type of buildings in the area. Despite the regional tendency to build traditional brick buildings, the company is successfully penetrating the market and this is the second project which we have carried out in collaboration with them within a short period. Our first solid wood house was completed at the beginning of this year in Villespy (near Toulouse).
This first house is what actually convinced the investors (a couple from Parmiers. who both work as teachers in a prison), to opt for a Riko house instead of a traditional building. The house and its lovely location in the French Pyrenees region will be a wonderful addition to our mosaic of references.
A house in France
On an idyllic location in the heart of Ljubljana’s marsh land our construction workers are currently laying the roof of a single family house. The house is built according to our patented ‘Riko Lesena’ (or: ‘Riko Wooden’) structural system.

On Monday 30 July, in collaboration with our French partner EcoCaza, we began with the assembly of a 163 m2 large one-story house in the city of Parmiers. A special feature of this house is its combination of walls, which were manufactured by Riko – half was manufactured by the Riko Lesena (wood) system, and the other half was manufactured by the Riko Plus system.
