House in the vicinity of Litija

Rikohouses are based on prefabricated construction, which poses less of a
burden on the environment and for shorter time. Spruce, which is the
most commonly used material, is harvested from the local
forestation pool, thus reducing the negative effects of transport. In
addition to wood, the other materials that are used for construction
– e.g. wood fibre insulation, coatings and bonding agents – are
also ecological. We are pleased that the owners of Riko houses are
aware of their environmental advantages and try to further upgrade
them. For example, the ecological quality of the house in Litija,
which is in the process of being furnished by its owners, will be
upgraded with the addition of a pellet-based heating system. This
type of heating with wood i.e. wooden biomass, functions similarly as
other heating systems, but is the most environmentally-friendly of
them all. This is because pellets contain no chemical additives and
are therefore considered to be CO2 neutral.
