New trends emphasize the importance of environmentally- and child-friendly materials – and point out wood as the most appropriate material for building kindergartens. This kindergarten on the outskirts of Ljubljana is a shining example of how wood can be used to provide warmth and playful colours. The coloured lamellas on the façade can be rotated as the children please so that they can create the appearance of their kindergarten by themselves. Such elements stimulate creativity, self-initiative, demonstrate alter ability and adaptability, and provide the children with visual proof of their “work”.
